Bryan Stokes II is the Vice President, Early Learning Programs at Illinois Action for Children. He is responsible for developing the agency’s early learning programs and strengthening community systems in the Cook County suburbs. Mr. Stokes provides strategic leadership and support for quality improvement activities for early learning and child care programs.
Mr. Stokes comes to Illinois Action for Children after serving as the Preschool Expansion Policy Director at the Illinois Governor’s Office of Early Childhood Development. In this role, he managed implementation of the state’s Preschool Development Grant, an $80 million federal investment in high-quality early learning, and led the department’s work to advance policies that support and strengthen the early educator workforce. Prior to joining the Governor’s Office, Bryan served as Director of Programs for Gads Hill Center, a social service agency serving children, youth and families in west and southwest Chicago.
Bryan holds a Master’s degree in English Literature from Penn State. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, he currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.
