For immediate release: Jan. 21, 2020
Chicago — Illinois Action for Children, a nationally-recognized nonprofit organization that works to create equitable access to high-quality child care and early education opportunities, announced today the launch of their new brand identity with its logo and tagline.
“Over the past 50 years, we have grown from a small organization into a multi-faceted agency that positively impacts the lives of more than 150,000 children and families each year,” said Maria Whelan, President and CEO of Illinois Action for Children. “’Building Strong Families & Powerful Communities’—and the new logo that goes along with it—captures this evolution and gives a nod to our unique approach of serving children through service to families and communities. The new brand also acknowledges our desire to reach an even broader audience in the years ahead.”
Through branding research, IAFC determined that evolving its identity was a key strategy for strengthening its position in terms of the work they do to build strong families and powerful communities.
“Strategically, IAFC is committed to engaging a wider and more diverse base of funders and donors,” said Sandy Matthews, Senior V.P. of Organizational Advancement. “This new identity more strongly positions IAFC to share our story and the tangible, positive impact our work has on children, families, and communities, year-in and year-out.”
IAFCs efforts have grown to include Early Learning Programs that directly address a critical need for exception early care and education options in South Suburban Cook County; groundbreaking research that unearths the importance of quality care; advocacy that pushes our elected officials to prioritize the needs of children and families in every decision they make; and much more.
This new tagline—Building Strong Families & Powerful Communities—reinforces IAFCs commitment to ensuring that all children have equitable access to quality child care and early learning environments. It recognizes and calls out the growth of IAFCs mandate to create lasting change by working with community members and the organizations that serve them every day. Through this tagline, IAFC tells its story and makes clear what is most important for children to succeed and thrive.
The expanding and layered heart component of the new logo embodies that care and commitment of IAFC to its clients, families, children, providers, advocates, donors and partners. The two sides of the heart formed by double layers in purple and gold that evolved from the former logo represent a child and the adults who uplift and support them so they are able to reach the stars or their full potential. The heart is an easily recognizable symbol of love, commitment, and care.
This new logo and tagline work together to communicate Illinois Action for Children’s unwavering commitment to positively impact the lives of children, families, and communities we all live in.
