License-Exempt Provider Services
We offer personalized visits to license-exempt child care providers that help engage and develop the children in your child care home.
Are you providing care for children in the Child Care Assistance Program? Are you a “family, friend or neighbor” child care provider who recently started caring for children? If so, a Child Care Resource Facilitator can serve as your personal contact to help you become familiar with the programs, information, and resources that are available to you as a child care provider.
We know child care involves successes and challenges while preparing children for their future. We want to do all we can to support you in this very important responsibility.
Our Child Care Resource Facilitators are ready to assist you.
Resource Visits
A Child Care Resource Facilitator can come to your home to support you in your child care by sharing information and offering resources. During the visit, they will provide you with a free safety kit that will help you promote a safe home caregiving environment. We will also bring books and other materials that you can use with the children in your care.
We would love to get to know you and hear your ideas and questions that you might have. Your facilitator will be able to tell you about additional programs and resources that might help you care for the children.
WeeRead Literacy Visits
This program is temporarily Suspended
You don’t have to be a teacher to get children off to a good start!
Illinois Action for Children invites you to participate in the WeeRead program, an opportunity for you to learn new ideas, activities and materials that support your work to enhance children’s language and literacy.
The foundations for success in school and in life are laid when children are very young. You can play a significant role by engaging the children in your care with fun, everyday activities that promote language and literacy learning. Child Care Resource Facilitators can visit your home to share educational games and activities that you can do to support reading readiness
A friendly Child Care Resource Facilitator will make a series of 4 – 8 visits to your home. Together, you and the facilitator will create and explore activities with children through play. You will receive books and materials to use with the children. You can also receive a visit from the Illinois Action for Children “Fun on Wheels” activity van.
Eligibility
Only License-Exempt providers are eligible to participate in the WeeRead program. You must be caring for at least one child between the ages of 3 and 5.
