About the Project
In early 2012, Illinois Action for Children collaborated with a group of child care providers, known as Providers in Action, to host forums to identify the most pressing issues facing child care providers. Child care licensing was identified as their top concern. That same year, Illinois Action for Children passed legislation to make sure DCFS is reporting on certain performance measures – such as timely renewal of licenses. The Licensing Report Card campaign came out of Providers in Action’s interest in sharing providers’ perspectives on their own experiences.
This year, after five years, Providers in Action and IAFC are launching another Licensing Report Card campaign to continue to improve child care licensing experiences across the state.
