For License-Exempt Family Child Care Providers
Are you new to the child care field? Are you a "family, friend or neighbor" child care provider who recently started caring for children? If so, a Child Care Resource Facilitator can serve as your personal contact to help you become familiar with the programs, information, and resources that are available to you as a child care provider.
By caring for children, you are taking care of our nation's most precious resource. We want to do all we can to support you in this very important responsibility.
The most important things a child needs are:
- A safe and healthy environment
- The love and attention of a caring adult
- Experiences and activities to encourage his or her physical, social, and mental development
Our Child Care Resource Facilitators are ready to assist you as you provide these things for the children in your care.
Welcome Visits
A Child Care Resource Facilitator can come to your home and provide you with a free Safety Kit that will help you promote a safe home caregiving environment. We will also bring books and other materials that you can use with the children in your care.
During the visit, we would love to get to know you and hear your ideas and questions that you might have. Your facilitator will be able to tell you about additional programs and resources that might help you care for the children.
Reading Readiness Visits (enrollment is limited)
The foundations for success in school and in life are laid when children are very young. You can play a significant role by engaging the children in your care with fun, everyday activities that promote language and literacy learning. Child Care Resource Facilitators can visit your home to share educational games and activities that you can do to support reading readiness.
