Early Learning Programs
Illinois Action for Children operates early learning programs in conjunction with child care centers and family child care homes. Children in participating programs benefit from a sharpened focus on school readiness.
At 18 child care centers, Illinois Action for Children's certified teachers supplement the child care staff, implementing a curriculum for 3- and 4-year-olds based on the Illinois Early Learning Standards.
This program extends Preschool for All to children in home-based child care. Four days a week, preschool-age children from home-based child care are transported to a child care center for a part-day classroom-based program. On the fifth day, the teacher visits the child care homes, sharing curriculum materials and learning activities with the home providers.
Teachers and parent educators work with children from birth to three years old and their parents in order to provide a strong foundation for success in school and in life.
