Advocacy: What We Champion
These are the issues we advocate for on behalf of children and families:
- Access, quality and
affordability of child care for working families
- Maintaining and increasing
child care and early education budgets
- Advancing professional
development for the early care and education field
- Improving licensing standards
for child care programs
Illinois Action for Children advocates work to ensure that
public polices support strong families and powerful communities where children
matter most. Click below to read about our current legislative priorities and

Illinois’ Child Care Assistance Program helps low-income
families pay for child care they need to work or go to school. Participating families share in the cost of
care by making a co-payment to their provider.
The current structure of Illinois co-payment system creates unnecessary
administrative complications. SB1236 would create a simplified and streamlined
co-payment system.
